EDIT: all positions are filled.
Once again, PyWeek
approaches and I'm looking for volunteers to help me create a video game. I'm looking for help with asset creation (NOT PROGRAMMING). Mostly in the form of level and puzzle design. This pyweek, we're probably making an isometric-view room-by-room puzzle game (the same genre as something like Portal, but 2D). This week of insanity is May 6-13 so I'm looking for people that are able to volunteer as much time as possible during that week. There will be a planning week before but it's not really too important if you can make that.
Here are the positions:
- Programming - already filled (by me)
- Art - partially filled
- Music - already filled
- Level makers - NEED MORE
- Puzzle design - NEED MORE
- Dialog Writing - potentially filled
Puzzle designers will design puzzles at a high level, draw them on a napkin, take a photo, and send them to the level makers.
The level makers will take that design and create an actual level out of it with tiles using a level editor I will create in the first day or two of the week.
In practice, I'm sure level designers and puzzle designers will be doing some amount of work across the boundary.
If you are interested in participating, please send me a message and include anything you think that will help make your case (such as samples of previous design experience). Even if you don't have any experience but this sounds like it'll be an awesomely fun use of your time during that week, apply anyway. I'll make my decision based on a combination of how well I think you'll be able to do it, how much time you can commit, and, to a degree, how well I know you. If there are lots of applicants, I might come up with some sort of interview challenge.
The finer details of the game won't be known until the week before PyWeek which is when they declare what the possible themes of the competition might be. Until the final theme of the game is declared at the opening of the competition, it'll remain vague.
