I have seen the excellence of the admins of Nerd Paradise, and I wish to join their elite ranks. Is that possible?

If you have to ask then the answer is "no."

Oh....sorry. I was just curious. Oh well.

Y'know, you could just PM Blake.

Yeah, there's no set time. I think that I joined a little bit before eofpi, and he's been an admin for a while. I have never been an admin. Counterexample right there.

Generally, adminship is determined by maturity, need, and demonstrated ability to govern fairly. How the admins are chosen on NP I don't know. Or care. The point is not the power, and there should be no yearning to be an admin. If there is, you're probably not right for it.

Okay......I guess I am not worthy. In fiction, this would be accompanied with a suicidal act and lots of sobbing.

My guess is that you have to
1. personally know the other admin(s) i.e. not just online
2. speak a couple of worthy programming languages
3. have been on NP for a long enough time
etc.
I think most of us qualify only for #2.

To become an admin you are required to have at least seven. Exactly seven or more. No less than seven. Nine is acceptable.

No.

Yes.

Long ago, I was curious about this same thing. Then, I realized that being an Admin wouldn't come with any benefits I could really use. I mean, it'd be a really cool title, but it's not like I'm actually useful to this site.

What if we had a vote?

No offense to your point, but... why?

Some members want to be admins. If they want to be admins, maybe we can vote to make them admins?
It's just a suggestion.

Nope. It's a dictatorship/oligarchy.

Don't call us; we'll call you.

We only bestow adminhood when there is a need that the current staff isn't meeting.

We tried something resembling democracy a while back. Calling it abject failure would be generous.

It seems likely to me that voting in admins would be significantly less effective than the current method. Besides, at least from what I can tell NP has enough admins to keep things running smoothly.

Again, the people who are the best admins are almost always not the ones yearning to be admins. Washington was the only universally liked president, if I remember correctly. He also didn't really want to be president, and was convinced to take the position, again if I remember correctly.

There's my anecdotal evidence.

Yes it seems that power is not suited for me.

So why don't you declare a state of emergency?

Why would Blake need to consolidate power?

Why would Blake need to consolidate power?

Remember your revolt (www.thedryeraseboard.com)?

That wasn't a revolt. That was the only visible part of Blake's grand multisite design of 2008.
