I'm not sure whether this belongs here or in "Philosophy", or in "Humanities". It's really a general discussion thread, seeing as I'm just watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, which I consider to be one of the best anime I've ever seen. Again, feel free to go off on some random tangent, so long as it's related to Eva.

What's interesting is that instead of seeing myself in Shinji, I find interesting and similar people in Gendou and Rei. In fact, I don't see Gendou as a "moustache-twirling villain", but rather as a deeply flawed, hurt, and alone character trying to construct a better world to live in once he resurrects Yui...according to his own ideals (he seems to realize his faults when Rei disobeys him). Indeed, I see Gendou as an older version of Shinji--one possible way he could have grown up.

I just realized something! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a response to Neon Genesis Evangelion!
Asuka is Haruhi, Rei is Yuki, Shinji is Mikuru, Gendou is Kyon, Kaworu is Itsuko, the Closed Spaces are the Angels, and Those Two Guys are....Those Two Other Guys.

Bump.

Anyone seen Eva?

This is the appropriate category. It's just that most of us who've seen Eva grew tired of discussing it long ago.

Aww. No one?

Personally, I have a Sartrean view of how it ends....

^_^^_^Eva. Yet another anime I need to see. It's now added to the bottom of my ever growing list of anime I plan to watch. I might move it up a bit if I feel it's worth it, but considering how old it is, none of my friends have watched it; so no one recommend it to me.

Too many emoticons, Mo.

Also, you should definetly watch it.

Okay, seems like I have to grow out of emotes sooner then I expected. Oh well.
I started watching today, seems good so far.

The occasional emoticon is tolerable. Why would Blake put a nice shiny button there without hope of use for it? ;)

Indeed, the occasional emoticon is tolerable. Not too many, though
