Just a quick question that I've been wondering about. I've never seen Doctor Who, but I do have a rudimentary understanding of the series.
So, I've been curious how having two hearts would work. What biological impact would this have? Are they in series or parallel? Where are they located within the body as in, how do you fit them in the chest cavity without having a baseball sized lump coming out of your chest? What biological impact would this have? Would he have to eat more food to sustain the multiple hearts? Would he have high blood pressure? Would the two hearts work half as hard?
Basically, I can see no benefits to having multiple hearts so I was wondering if someone more familiar with the series could explain.
Also, I apologise for necroposting. Curiosity got the best of me. And no cats were harmed in the asking of this question.
