Isaac said: She did mention that it had been two years, so that's a little more than "slightly. I was just trying to figure it out. She was 8 in The 11th hour, then 12 years, so 2o by the end of that. I wonder how long he was away during the time after The God Complex. Was that the two years? I've stopped spoiler tagging things, as I figure most people have watched it by now. Oh that's right, I had forgotten about the 'two years' line. So, if Amy was seven when she first met the Doctor, then met him again twelve years later and again two years after that, and then spent the period between her honeymoon and Lake Silencia in her own time, plus the bit between A Good Man Goes To War and Let's Kill Hitler...yes, I agree with Captain Liv's estimate, and we can probably assume that Rory is the same age. |
Put in spoiler box just in case. Season 7 rumors. Spoiler text below. Highlight to read. I don't recall where I read it, so canonicity aside, rumor has it that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will be stepping down and a new companion will be introduced mid-season 7, and will be a "he, she, or it". Thoughts? |
Just a quick question that I've been wondering about. I've never seen Doctor Who, but I do have a rudimentary understanding of the series. So, I've been curious how having two hearts would work. What biological impact would this have? Are they in series or parallel? Where are they located within the body as in, how do you fit them in the chest cavity without having a baseball sized lump coming out of your chest? What biological impact would this have? Would he have to eat more food to sustain the multiple hearts? Would he have high blood pressure? Would the two hearts work half as hard? Basically, I can see no benefits to having multiple hearts so I was wondering if someone more familiar with the series could explain. Also, I apologise for necroposting. Curiosity got the best of me. And no cats were harmed in the asking of this question. |
How? I can only see an increased risk for heart disease. I mean, considering regenerations and the fact that he has two hearts, he would be statistically likely to have at least one form of heart disease in at least one regeneration. And I can't really see a reason it would lead to a longer lifespan. And if he's died what? Ten times? Why hasn't there been at least a single autopsy? |
They don't beat at the same time. It's a four count. This is the heart rhythm, that he's drumming out. |
It's one heart's in, the the other's out, then the other's out, and the other's in, not the sound of both hearts. And, remember, a Time Lord isn't human. :) (Which is technobabble. Pretty much, the excuse for anything that's a little wonky is either 'Timey Wimey Stuff' or 'Not human', like in the Harry Potter series or The Wizard of Oz, it is 'Magic, bitch. Don't have to explain anything.') |
There's been several instances where one of his hearts stops beating, so it saved him. And it's theorised that he only grew his second heart after his first regeneration, since the First Doctor explicitly had only one heart. MagicalLegume said: And if he's died what? Ten times? I've had it bookmarked for an incredibly long time, and now I thought you all might like this. |

The 10th is my favorite, David Tenant! And my favorite companion is River and Rory. Amy and Rose can go die in a hole. Just my oppinion. Can't wait for the season to start up again. I went to the Doctor Who Exhibit in London. Awesome. Theking, you should definintly watch it! |
Just watched episode one of season one, and it was pretty awesome. Wish the first two seasons of the original Doctor Who were still entirely intact so I could start from the very beginning, but I figure six seasons of the newer stuff is enough to catch up on for now. Edit: Around halfway through season one. One, Rose is sexy sexy sexy. Two, this show is amazing. Screencaps from the Dalek episode of, well, Rose! Rose 1 Rose 2 On to the 10th Doctor! |
You can start at the beginning, the missing episodes don't kick in 'til the fourth serial. So there's a clear-run of thirteen episodes at the start. The "missing episodes" only affect the First and Second doctor, so you could start at the Third Doctor. And all "missing episodes" exist in audio. |
Start at the Ninth Doctor. He's a really great Doctor. Seriously, fantastic. I blasted through the Ninth Doctor episodes, and I really liked them all. As for the beginning, maybe I'll eventually go back, but as of now, I'm content with where I started. The series creators made it easy to jump right in without a problem at the Ninth Doctor AKA Season 1, 2005. |
SuperJesus2.0 said: I've been thinking about getting into Doctor Who. But starting at the first season is out of the question. 720 something episodes? Yeah, no dice. I'll probably go with when David Tennet first started as the Doctor Why is starting at the beginning out of the question? That makes it sound like watching it will be a chore. If you like Doctor Who, then isn't it the more the merrier? |
