I'm just wondering,Are there any Big Bang fans in here?

I've netflixed them and am actually marathoning through the whole series right now. That's usually how I watch all TV series.

Also, I knew 2 Sheldons in highschool/college.

I, too, consider myself like Sheldon, and am a fan of the show. I have tried to consider myself less socially abrasive, but I get irritated by foolishness fairly quickly.

I also consider myself to be like Sheldon.

*ahem* WHEATONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, I had to. He is reappearing on April 12 in "The Wheaton Recurrence"

one thing I can't stress enough, it is a THEORY. Although I know most of you know this, it is easy to forget.

I believe they're talking about the sitcom, not the theory.

He still played a pretty awful person in The Wheaton Recurrence.

The title says theory though, so if anyone just accidentally comes here, they will read my comment, which I made while I was very sleepy...

I don't really watch television, but I tried watching it. I realized that I can not watch shows with a laugh track.

Laugh tracks, in theory, increase the humor observed within a program in that they tell people what is funny and when to laugh. This causes people to follow suit, and laugh, which, in turn, causes these people to enjoy it more. As a final result, they watch the show more. Though, I believe I simply tune out laugh tracks at this point.

personally I believe that TV Shows with laugh tracks are of a lower quality than the old movies that actually made you laugh because they were funny, not because you were forced to.

I understand how laugh tracks work. A laugh track isn't necessarily telling you when to laugh; it mostly sets the mood for a program. From the few scenes (not entire episodes) that I've seen of The Big Bang Theory, it seems like a generally decent show. A laugh track just throws off the pacing of a show. Watch this. Consider that during a half-hour television sitcom you're going to be watching about eight minutes of commercials, and probably another ten minutes of laughter and other audience sounds (a generous estimate). That leaves only about 12 minutes of actual show, which includes an introduction, credits, and scene transitions. It's not that I don't like television. It just feels dreadfully dull when most of the content is padding and fluff. It's like a video game that's mostly cutscenes, blocks of text and loading screens. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I didn't enjoy playing Heavy Rain at all. Also, I loved Malcolm in the Middle. And candy is delicious.

There's a Belorussian spinoff ripoff called "The Theorists". Hilarity ensues when seeing their casting.

Very fitting considering your avatar.

I find the show rather disappointing. It was fun to watch at first (i.e. *Sheldon points out the high entropy of Penny's room* Me: "Hey, I know what entropy is! I feel smart."), but their jokes tend to be very similar to that of any other sitcom. The only difference is that they like injecting scientific references here and there.

My parents often describe it as "Two and a Half Men with occasional nerd culture and science references." From what little I've watched of it, I tend to agree. Whether that's good or bad, however, probably depends on how well you enjoy sitcoms in general.

I love BBT!! Leonard is so adorkable. Yes, I just said adorkable. There's really no other word to express my opinion of him.

I feel like BBT has derailed from its original geeky plot and dialogue to appeal to a broader audience.

I felt that in season 3.

Or the plot is just going through the changes any plot would with time. ;)

Yes, but for the worse. Its humor is quite like some of the worse XKCD strips-- "Look at how nerdy we can be! Look at how many references we can make!"

I felt that in season 2. Got used to it and didn't notice it by 5, though.

BBT has provided me with a crap ton of rofls, and since I've watched it very out of sequence, I haven't really felt undesirableness in plot shifts. Ok then again maybe I just like random references. I've been described as a mix between Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard, with mostly Sheldon.
