Nerd Paradise

As javadoc would say: "A paradise for nerds"
I am currently on book eleven (Knife of Dreams), and I just learned that Robert Jordan died before he finished.
Anyone here read the new one by that other guy? Is it worth finishing the series or should i stop after this one?

It's been a while since I looked into things, but, last I knew, Jordan had substantial notes on book 12 that he left for it to be written from. But this information dates from a week or so after Jordan's death.

According to wiki, book 12 is split into 3 volumes, only one of which has been published.

Personally, I'm waiting until the series is completed before reading any more of it.

I am still on Eye of the World. I just started a few months ago, but lost interest and time

I've not read the 12th book yet, I have it purchased and sitting on my bookshelf. I force myself to reread the entire series before each new book is released, so I understand what's going on. I'm halfway through book 10 right now.

So if you ask me this question in about 2 weeks I'll have an answer for you.

I have *heard* from people that I know personally and trust, that it rocks hard.

I've heard from people I know and trust that Brandon Sanderson is, basically, the Awesomest Author in a while.

Alright thanks everyone.

Cosman, the first book starts kind of slow but once it picks up you will be hooked.

It was my observation that the first couple of books are the fastest-paced.

Sometime around book three, the author realized he was being paid, more or less, by the word, so he turned it into Zeno's fantasy series.

I suppose that if I went back and reread them that would be my opinion, I was giving my feelings on my first exposure to his books.

I am about 300 pages into The Gathering Storm and it quite as gripping as the rest.

Holy craaaap, other people read these. Actually, I only ever got to book 6 or 7. Not enough free time and whatnot.

Just finished book 12, it's easily one of the best books in the series. The ending brought a tear to my eye. I suppose that makes me overly sappy.

No, the ending was moving for me as well.

Sanderson's continuation of the series was adequate, and it probably would have been nearly impossible to find a more suitable author, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorites in the series. Immediately his writing style seemed to clash with Jordan's, and it was a while before I got into it. (Although, the horribly useless prologue might be to blame for that; I was afraid the entire book would be that bad.)

If you like the series it's worth reading, and it has some excellent high points to compete with even the best of Jordan's, but nothing's going to make me stop missing that old Jordan flavor.

Anyone else going to the book signing in Utah next week? Me and some friends are going. Were dressing as aiel.
