I listened to some of Nancarrow's studies for player piano, some of which I thought were pretty interesting. I had a composition class for which I listened to a lot of new music by composers like these (I'm not sure what to call this category of music). I only liked a small portion of what I heard. However, I definitely support the idea of not composing music in a style that has already been used by many composers. |
Goretzki's third symphony and the "Albinoni" adagio in Gm are particular favourites of mine. |
