I was recently introduced to the awesomeness of the Prelude to act I of Tristan and Isolde in my theory class. I could have sworn I started this thread. Of late I have been quite impressed by Rachmaninov's Piano Sonata #2, particularly Horowitz's 1980 performance. The Alexander Nevsky cantata by Prokofiev is also amazing. |
