I've heard of other Python programs which are easier to use then the one off the official website.
Anybody have a suggestion?

Are you talking about Python programs? Or are you talking about the IDE?

I think plain ol python is fine, but some substitutes are:

IronPython (Python running on .NET)
Jython (Python running on the Java Virtual Machine)
PyPy (A fast python implementation with a JIT compiler)
Stackless Python (Branch of CPython supporting microthreads)

Is there a way I can open a Python program in the default Python program?

I'm not really sure what you're asking.

Do I really need to open up Command Prompt to run my programs, or can I run my programs in the default from the official Python website?

Proposed solution
File -> Open?

The 'official' app is IDLE, but I believe PythonWin is also distributed. They're both a bit clunky in different ways, but you can certainly run existing programs with either.

Solution
Yeah, pretty sure you're looking for IDLE.
It comes with python, it's in the python folder in your programs (assuming you run windows).

After a little net-surfing, I started idle.py.
Thanks!
