I still don't know what Google Wave is, so I don't know whether I want an invite or not.

Googlewave is being discontinued. Invites are no longer available. :(

It's being discontinued? That's somewhat surprising. I didn't use it much myself, but it seemed to have a lot of practical applications

Several practical applications do come to mind, but googlewave never really took off.

They are making an open source alternative though.

It would have been cool, but internet is too slow to hold up a web-based application such as wave.

I think the term used was "it came too soon."

I think the sheer towering mounds of Javascript are [were] the problem.

I was heartbroken, but yes, the internet just isn't ready for it.

Oh well. =/

Maybe later it'll be tried again. I suppose a 'The world wasn't ready' ending is better than a 'dabbled with forces man should not' ending.

Google killed it dead. Invites won't do much now.

Google docs has many of the same aspects incorporated into it. I've actually been using its spreadsheet functions with a couple of friends to plan some economic shenanigans.
